Caboolture heads west!

Southeast Queensland’s new $9.5 billion satellite city, Caboolture West will eventually be home to 70,000 residents. A new suburb at Caboolture West has been selected by the Palaszczuk Government’s growth areas delivery team as a pilot site to accelerate land supply in Southeast Queensland. The Caboolture West local plan area is approximately 5km west of Caboolture, 6km from Caboolture Square Shopping Centre, and 54km north of Brisbane.

The plan is to transform the rural space west of Caboolture into a bustling city, housing 70,000 residents. Caboolture West as a whole will be roughly 6,600ha and will accommodate 30,000 homes, 12 schools, 6 retail hubs, a TAFE, a private hospital, district sports fields and a town centre.

On the 28th of September 2021, Caboolture West reached a planning milestone when Deputy Premier Steven Miles approved development of 3,000 lots in the Neighbourhood Development Plan 1 (NDP1). The NDP1 will be the first of 5 major development hubs that will eventually link to form Caboolture West.

Neighbourhood Development Plan Area 1 (“NDPA1”) will be approximately 266ha and will include 3,000 homes of varying sizes, a retail centre, district sports park, a greenspace along the Caboolture River, and 7ha reserved for a state primary school. NDPA1 is expected to be delivered within the next 10 years.

To date there have been nine development applications submitted, which total approximately 12,000 lots. The largest applications being from AV Jennings (8,700 lots) and Stockland (1,950 lots). All development applications are still pending approval from council.

The new growth centre of Caboolture West will assist the development of Caboolture City as a well-planned city. As a new enterprise and employment area with access to the D’Aguilar Highway, it will provide opportunities for mixed business and associated employment for the growing population of Caboolture.
